David has contributed opinion pieces for national publications such as the Huffington Post, as well as regional papers such as the Greensboro News and Record. In addition, his work has been featured in venues focused on improving professional practice for people in the fields of conflict resolution and dialogue, such as the National Civic League’s National Civic Review.
David has written two books that are widely known within the fields of civic engagement, dialogue, and inclusion. The Little Book of Dialogue for Difficult Subjects (2007), co-authored with Dr. Lisa Schirch, is used by conflict resolution specialists around the world because of its helpfulness in clarifying the power and subtleties of small group dialogue. Read the Room for Real (2015), co-authored with Matthew Freeman, is the first book to examine the benefits of using audience polling technology to enhance speeches, workshops, meetings, and conferences.
In addition to his own blogging, David sometimes adds featured guest blogs for other publications, such as the civic engagement blog sponsored by the University of North Carolina School of Politics.
